Two suicide bombers on Saturday, blew themselves up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia following confrontation with the country’s security forces in the city of Jeddah.

According to a report by a local media, security officers exchanged fire with two men in a house in Jeddah and the men detonated explosives which completely destroyed the home.

The Saudi ministry of interior is yet to make a statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report. Security forces in Saudi Arabia have continued to face attacks from followers of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) since 2014. The force claimed it has arrested more than hundreds of its members. Saudi-owned Arabiya TV showed footage of smoke rising above Jeddah and an explosion tearing through a building.

Many deadly attacks have been carried out by Local ISIL affiliates. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, ISIL leader has called for attacks against Saudi Arabia, which is a member of a US-led coalition bombing his fighters in Syria and Iraq.

A Saudi security spokesman confirmed that neighboring areas at both locations were cleared before the operations began but turned violent quickly after the extremists refused to multiple requests to surrender peacefully.

“After several attempts to evade security officials by firing their weapons, the two extremists blew themselves up,” the spokesman said.
