Trump’s Aide Faces Investigation After Advertising President’s Daughter Clothing Line On Television

Elijah Cummings, a key aide to President Donald Trump may face possible investigation after she advertised the clothing line of the president’s daughter, Ivanka on television, which is apparently against ethics rules.

Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings led calls for Conway to face rebuke after she urged shoppers to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff,” in reference to the fashion brand of Trump’s daughter.

Conway could face investigation by the Office of Inspector General.

A letter by Cummings to a Congressional ethics panel read in part, “This appears to be a textbook violation of government ethics laws and regulations enacted to prevent the abuse of an employee’s government position.”

Sean Spicer, White House press secretary said Trump’s aide had been “counselled” over the issue, without providing more detail.

Earlier on Thursday Conway with the White House seal clearly seen over her left shoulder, during an interview with the Fox network, said concerning Ivanka’s clothing line: “This is just a wonderful line,” she said. “I own some of it. I fully — I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online.”
