A little girl found safe and unharmed, despite enduring frigid temperatures in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after becoming the victim of a carjacking.

Police and volunteers launched a frantic search after the car was found abandoned and the girl was not inside.  A flash of of purple caught the attention of one police officer as he drove around a dark empty parking lot.

It turned out to be 3-year-old Caraline Leon-Alcocar, sitting on a parking block wrapped in a jacked with arms folded against her chest and her hood up. The officer’s lapel video shows him jumping out of his car and scooping her up. “(She was) just a small purple dot in a sea of concrete,”Officer Simon Drobik told KOAT. She repeatedly tells him that she’s cold.

Alcocar had been missing for four hours, after a thief jumped into her mother’s car and sped away with her still buckled up in the back seat. The toddler, luckily unharmed and police continue their search for the carjacker.

They’ve been circulating security footage of the suspect from the grocery store parking lot where the mother’s car was stolen as she was just feet away filling up water jugs. Aside from theft charges, police say the suspect also will likely face kidnapping and child abuse charges when he is caught.
