Mexican drug lord El Chapo can now add fashion influencer to his rap sheet.
Sales of shirts worn by Joaquin Guzman, or “El Chapo,” during his Rolling Stone interview with Sean Penn have skyrocketed, according to TMZ. More after the cut…
The clubby button-downs come from a Los Angeles store called Barabas, and the shop is embracing the connection. The website for the menswear store, which bills itself as a “premium apparel brand,” is plastered with a photo of El Chapo in a striped shirt shaking Penn’s hand, next to a shot of a model in the same “Fantasy” shirt that sells for $128 on the site.
The cartel couture was so popular that the Barabas site crashed Tuesday because of high demand of the shirt.
