Agent of Sir John Hurt has confirmed the death of the movie icon. He died aged 77. Hurt featured in movies such as Harry Porter series, Alien and the Elephant Man.

Hurt was cleared by doctors in October 2015 but could not continue with the movie, The Entertainer due to ill-health.

After he was diagnosed of cancer in 2015, Hurt said: ‘I can’t say I worry about mortality, but it’s impossible to get to my age and not have a little contemplation of it. ‘We’re all just passing time, and occupy our chair very briefly. But my treatment is going terrifically well, so I’m optimistic.’

Hurt will be remembered by fans for his role as wand maker Mr Ollivander in Harry Potter film series and Broom Burttenholm in Hellboy. Sir Hurt was survived by his wife, Anwen Rees-Meyers who he was married to for a dozen years.
