Nigerian policemen on Saturday, shot some students of Osun State University at Osogbo, the state capital.
According to a source, the Osun students were playing football before officers of the Nigerian police in mufti, arrived the scene to open fire on them. Two students were hit by the bullets.
While one was hit on the stomach, the other was hit in the mouth. They were taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Osogbo and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital at Jolayemi, Osogbo respectively, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Source said, the policemen arrived at the football pitch and started shouting Yahoo boys, Yahoo boys before shooting the students. Massive protests have erupted in Osogbo as the students of the institution and others are registering their displeasure against the shooting.
Save for officers on duty, some protesters would have razed down the Oke Baale Police Station. Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun state, Mrs. Folashade Odoro, said full investigation into the incident has been ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, adding that anyone found culpable in the act will be brought to justice.
