Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti on Saturday stated that his own accounts with Zenith Bank has once again been frozen by the the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Fayose said, a cheque he took to Zenith bank on Friday was not honoured due to an order from the EFCC to freeze his personal accounts.
The governor said, “This is the impunity we are condemning. The bank and the EFCC got all the judgments of the court , but the agency still harassed the bank to act against the law . If I sent somebody with a cheque , they could give excuse but I was there myself ; acts of impunity such as this cannot continue. We will challenge them.”
A Federal High Court sitting in Ekiti had on Wednesday dismissed a motion filed by the EFCC for stay of execution of the judgment unfreezing the accounts for lacking in merit.
A December 13, 2016 judgment had ordered the unfreezing of personal accounts of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
