Man, a Mechanic, Peter Kibisu, 23, Murdered Elizabeth Nnyanzi, a former Cheltenham Ladies’ College pupil, in the bedroom of her £600,000 family house in Harrow, north west London, on August 14 last year. More after the cut….
In November last year, Kibisu, who was a lodger at the Nnyanzi family home in Northumberland Road, pleaded guilty to murder. The case was adjourned to allow the prosecution to deliberate whether a rape trial should go ahead. During a brief hearing at the Old Bailey today, Kibisu admitted to raping Miss Nnyanzi.
At the time of her death, Miss Nnyanzi, 31, had recently started work at a top law firm while the defendant, a close family friend, was lodging in the house. His lawyer Courtenay Griffiths QC had told the court that his actions came like a “bolt from the blue”.
Following her murder, family members described Miss Nnyanzi as a “beautiful and talented” young woman, who had decided to follow in her father’s footsteps by taking up a career in law. They described her as a “young star” and said her death was a “huge loss to society”.
She was a keen singer who had performed at the Royal Albert Hall, she was also said to have worked for a number of charities and been involved in fundraising.
