A search is underway after a gunman opened fire at a bar Killing two people in central Tel Aviv before fleeing the scene.
Two people have been killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at a bar in central Tel Aviv. Israeli Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said five people were wounded in the shooting on Friday afternoon. He said officers were investigating and it was not immediately clear who was behind it.
Units are currently searching the Tel Aviv area for the suspect. Nati Shakked, owner of the Simta bar where the attack took place, said the gunman waited outside on a bench before taking the weapon out of a bag and “shooting in every direction”. The injured people have been taken to hospitals in the city.
Israeli media reported that at least three of the victims were seriously injured. Channel 10 news reported that local businesses shut after the gunman, armed with an assault rifle, fled the scene.
A large police presence has been deployed at the scene of the shooting.
