Judging a book by it’s cover can actually cost you.
Honest Joe Christie was walking along the street when he noticed a 10 pounds fall out of a woman’s pocket. Wanting to do the right thing, he picked it up and ran after her to hand it back. But before he could explain the situation when he approached her, the 23-year-old was left stunned when she told him “Sorry, I’m not into black boys.” More after the cut…
Luckily Joe saw the funny side of the woman’s “racist response” and took to social media to write a tongue-in-cheek post.“This is a picture of £7.05p. 20 minutes ago I was on Streatham high street in South London,” he posted on Facebook. “A woman about three metres in front of me no older than 30 dropped a £10 note from her jacket pocket.
“I picked it up, walked up to her an said ‘Excuse me luv’. “Before I had a chance to finish my sentence she said ‘sorry I’m not into black boys’ and walked off in a hurry.” Joe clearly had the last laugh by treating himself to chicken and chips after his good deed was rejected. The music production student and aspiring rapper, added on Facebook: “Thanks for buying me lunch.”
His post about the ordeal on Saturday has since gone viral, with over 138,000 likes and over 6,600 shares.
Joe, who lives in Streatham, said rather than being upset, he found the incident funny. He told the Standard: “I didn’t make a scene she saw I had the money but walked off, so I just bought some food instead. “It’s not the worst she could have said in terms of the racist aspect of it.”Joe wasn’t that bothered about the brush-off about his appearance either adding: “She was flattering herself to say the least, though. She wasn’t a hottie, put it that way.”
