Girl, 15, Charged With Murder After mother, mother’s boyfriend found decomposing in Brooklyn

Destiny Garcia, 15, was charged with two counts of murder and illegal weapons possession and will be tried as an adult in the killings of her mother and her mother's boyfriend in Brooklyn.

A 15-year-old girl was charged Monday in the deaths of her mother and her mother’s boyfriend whose decomposing bodies were found in a Brooklyn apartment, police said.

The victims were identified as Rosie Sanchez, 38, and her live-in boyfriend Anderson Nunez, 40, police said. Investigators found Sanchez slumped in a chair; she had been shot in the head and stabbed in the chest, according to the medical examiner. Nunez, whose lifeless body was discovered on the living room floor, had been stabbed in the head, neck and torso.

Sanchez’s teenage daughter, whose name has not been released, faces two murder charges and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Investigators are now looking for whomever supplied the gun, according to Chief Boyce.

Investigators discovered two knives and .380-caliber shell casings at the scene, law enforcement sources said. Those sources added that the girl implicated herself in the slayings during questioning by police. She told detectives her mother had been “physically abusive in the past,” according to Chief Robert Boyce.

The deceased couple shared an apartment in the 2300 block of Batchelder Street in Sheepshead Bay.It’s there that their bodies were found about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a pool of blood, police said. Officers were responding to a call for a wellness check.

Law enforcement sources told PIX11 News Sunday night the victims’ bodies had been in the apartment for some time and were decomposing. Because they were killed before the New Year, according to Commissioner Bratton. Sanchez’s 15-year-old daughter is being quizzed by police after allegedly confessing to a cousin that she killed them because her mum’s boyfriend repeatedly raped her, police said.
The cousin is believed to have called police, who found the decomposing bodies after conducting a welfare check, Pix11 reported. Sanchez was found dead in a bedroom chair while the body of Nunez was discovered on the kitchen floor. Both had been stabbed repeatedly, a police source said. A knife was also found in the kitchen, the Daily News reported. A shell casing is also believed to have been found at the scene in Sheepshead Bay Houses apartment on Batchelder St.

According to the Daily News, the teenager allegedly confessed to killing the pair on December 27. She allegedly accused her mother of ignoring her claims that Nunez had repeatedly raped her, the paper reported. The girl reportedly went to stay with her father for a few days following the incident, before staying with her cousin.

She allegedly confessed after her cousin became concerned that she hadn’t heard from Sanchez for several days.
The teenager was taken into custody and is being questioned by police, the Daily News reported
