Chelsea striker Diego Costa was his typical combative self against Everton in the sixth round of the FA Cup but there was one moment in particular which was the subject of much debate on Twitter.
The Spain international received a booking from referee Michael Oliver in the tenth minute at Goodison Park for a collision with Gareth Barry but it was his reaction which got people talking. More after the cut…
Costa and Barry, who had clashed frequently throughout the game, went head-to-head after Costa was brought down by the Everton midfielder. The hot-headed Spanish striker had earlier been booked after his flailing arm caught Barry in the face – Costa was furious with the former England man whom he thought overreacted. The striker appeared to spit at the feet of referee Michael Oliver after the incident.

After Oliver had shown Costa the yellow card, the forward appeared to spit in the direction of the match official and glanced up to gauge his reaction. Costa may have meant nothing by the action but it was a little odd to say the least

And in the 87th minute, an enraged Costa appeared to bite Barry after a feisty encounter between the two. Judge for yourselves whether he took a bite out of Barry’s neck
