Troubled singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor has posted another concerning Facebook message less than 24 hours after writing an apparent suicide note. The musician, 48, was found safe and well last night after the rambling post in which she claimed to have taken an overdose. She was given medical assistance and it is understood she was admitted to a Dublin hospital. Read after the cut… But in another worrying message today, she lashed out at her inner circle calling them ‘child stealing murderers’, ‘liars’ and ‘hypocrites’.
She wrote on her public Facebook page: ‘You stole my sons from me. Then you had [the] hypocrisy to come to hospital and then not be here when I wake and not pick up [the] phone? ‘I’m s*** to you. You’re dead to me. You killed your mother. You stole my sons. You left me alone for twelve weeks! Why did I have to hear it was your hypocritical asses here while I was unconscious?? And now you’re gone and not picking up [the] phone? ‘You are child stealing murderers, I never want to see or hear from any of you again. Why were you here when you’re the ones who put me here???? And where the f*** are you now??? Murderers. Liars. Hypocrites. All of you. You caused this.’
O’Connor, who underwent a hysterectomy in August, said she had been ‘howling crying for weeks’ and ‘the last two nights finished me off’. She suffers from bipolar disorder and has been hospitalised on several occasions. She has been on suicide watch at hospital for the past fortnight.
O’Connor, who once famously tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II declaring ‘Fight the real enemy’, was forced to cancel a string of concerts in July on doctors’ orders. Last year she said the mentally ill were treated ‘like dirt’ and later threatened to sue pop star Miley Cyrus over tweets O’Connor thought mocked those with mental illness.
She was married to record producer John Reynolds and had a child Jake in 1987, then married British journalist Nick Sommerlad from 2001-2004, and musician Steve Cooney in 2010 – which ended less than a year later. She also had a daughter, Roisin, with writer John Waters, then another boy, Shane, fathered by Irish folk instrumentalist Donal Lunny.
Then, following a year-long relationship with American surgeon and businessman Frank Bonadio, she had a son, Yeshua. She married drug counsellor Barry Herridge in 2011, but split 16 days later. They then remarried.
