A 78-year-old nun has been arrested after she was caught shoplifting $23 (£15.80) worth of coffee, snacks and toiletries from a store in central Pennsylvania.
Sister Agnes Pennino was spotted taking the items from the Surplus Outlet near Berwick on Monday afternoon. More after the cut…
CCTV footage confirmed the woman was the Sister who lived about 20 miles away at a convent in Danville, WNEP-TV reported.
Store manager Zane Kishbach said he ‘couldn’t believe it that a nun would actually do something like that.’
If convicted, the nun will probably have to pay a fine as shoplifting is a summary offence in America.
Saints Cyril and Methodius Convent officials have declined to comment.
